Saying Farewell to Spring

It’s officially the first day of summer so I thought it would be a great opportunity to look back on the Spring we have just had! Filled with so many spring wedding flowers, throughout Bristol, Bath and the Cotswolds I also took a trip down to Cornwall to take part in a two day workshop with The Garden Gate Company. I have forever admired these girls’ flowers… all home grown on their farm and arranged in such a natural and effortless style. It was great to meet other like minded florists and come away with a ton of inspiration and new tricks of the trade!

We were let loose in the stables at Boconnoc House with the hugest selection of spring bounty! Creating a large scale urn, small scale table centre and a hand tied bridal bouquet demonstrated by amazing American florist Ashley Beyer. After the workshop had finished our flowers were captured beautifully by the insanely talented Taylor and Porter  the photos are so elegant and timeless and here is a little selection from the day!

The stand was filled with all of spring’s finest including ranunculus, daffodils, narcissi, tulips, stocks, anemones, hellebores. Alongside tones of gorgeous foliage and blossoms, all cut from the farm! You could hear the squeals of delight from all the florists when they walked into the stable filled with blooms, there was just too much beauty!

For my table urn I chose a soft colour way of creams, peaches with hints of burnt orange and deep red, the stars of the show are those gorgeous peach centred daffodils and rich, dark tulips! Adding narcissi, ranunculus and hellebores to fill and add depth… with trailing foliage and sprigs of dark pitto. The great thing about these urn arrangements are they work so well on round tables, and also on longer tables!

My bouquet consists of similar kinds of spring flowers and foliage, the scent from those burnt orange tulips were beautiful! I have never smelt a tulip like it, and that is the beauty of home grown tulips! The bouquets were finished off with stunning silk ribbon from Lancaster and Cornish, a must for all brides getting wed right now! I came away so inspired from my time at Boconnoc House. When you work for yourself it is so important to get out there and find new sources of inspiration and give yourself time away from the everyday running of the business. Big Thanks to Maz, Becca and Ashley for such a fun few days!
