If you are looking for wedding flowers in South Devon then I would love to share these beautiful blooms with you. The spring floral season is one of freshness, dainty, delicate flowers and all that much longed for, new growth we crave throughout those long winter months. Spring brings us the most wonderful branches of stunning blossom and the scent from all the bulbs in the form of narcissi and hyacinths. I am a huge fan of spring blooms and after reading this blog post, I think you will be too! The day was expertly plnned by wedding planner Fern Godfrey, with beautiful imagery from Tara Statton.
The Lost Music Hall, S Devon Wedding Venue;
Among the spring blossoms, I am pleased to present The Lost Music Hall, a unique wedding venue located in South Devon, set in a secluded valley in South Hams, close to Totnes. Adorned with a mossy orange exterior and Italian-inspired terraces, this architectural gem is enveloped by lush foliage and gardens that extend in all directions. The interior features oak parquet floors, doric columns, and domed ceilings, providing a magnificent setting for your wedding, reminiscent of a grand Arts and Crafts museum. The sunlit house, enclosed gardens, and nearby parish churches offer a variety of spaces for your ceremony, each steeped in the history of this exceptional venue.
Spring Wedding Flowers in April:
Working with an exceptional team of well sought after wedding suppliers, we transformed The Lost Music Hall to showcase just what a beauiful place this venue is to get married. I wanted to truly celebrate the spring season we were in and so I focused the flowers completely around blooms that are perfeclty in season in April. If you are having a spring wedding then you really are spoilt for choice in terms of seasonality, bulbs are at their best right now so you will have so many tulips, narcissi, fritillaries, anemone and hyacinths to choose from.
The Bridal Bouquet:
I created the spring bridal bouquet centrered around effortless, untamed blooms with a quientessitially British feel. For me, the delicate texture and movement to this bouquet is paramount, with the blousy blooms and daintry tendrils offering so much depth to the bouquet. There are very few weeks of the year where you can enjoy ranunculus and peonies together, and that is late April/early May. Peonies tend to be the most sought after bloom for weddings, owing to their romantic and blousy look, so to be lucky enough to have ranunculus too! That really is pretty special. Butterfly ranunculus have a flatter shape to their petals, but an almost pearlescent tone to them in the softest blush it is remniscent of an oyster shell! All these flowers are a complete must if you are getting married in late spring,
Locally grown blooms:
Spring is the time of year when the British flower season truly begins, as the bulbs start spring up, us wedding florists will be able to dive into the super special locally grown flowers. The wonky stems and unique petals, make each bloom different and I promise you, that by using British flowers you will elevate your wedding flowers to the next level. Not only are locally grown flowers more beautiful to look at and have a more impactful scent, they are more environmentally friendly. We are using a product that has been locally grown where we can define it's exact origins, grown by local farmers who know their stuff, we are supporting these businesses in a way that allow them to carry on doing what they love.
These beautiful, big branches of cherry blossom were cut (by my fair hands, well actaully Jack's as they were so huge) from Pat The Forgotten Garden, a local grower in North Devon who grows the most wonderful stuff. The blossom here, completely makes the whole look and finishes the overall floral design, it runs through from the ceemony to the inside of the house and opitimises spring. If you use blossom bramches like this in your wedding, each year when they flower again you will be transported back to your wedding day! That is the beauty of using seasonal flowers and the memories they can evoke.
Homegrown Spring Blooms:
Aside from imported and locally grown flowers, I included some of my own flowers at The Lost Music Hall. These amazing tulips with their delicate and peach transclecent petals were deceiving in their impact, as the flowers were actually more like the size of a peony rather than a traditional tulip that youd expect. Beautiful, unique, seasonal and snipped from right outside my front door in my North Devon garden. I also grew the fritillaries, some of the narcissi and hellebores. As a a wedding florist I adore being able to pop outside and snip some specialities to include in the bridal work, what a treat!
Ceremony Flowers at The Lost Music Hall:
The ceremony took place infront of the beautiful front of the country house, the backdro is incredible and so I just wanted to add to the existing foliage of the building and complement this. I created a statemtn floral pillar on one side of the yew hedge, and on the other I flowered some beautifully rustic, stone vases placed on pillars. By using floral vases in different heights, you can create a really full look, but in a modern and stylish way. It also breaks up the fullness of the floral pillar, and an added bonus is that these vases can be repurposed after the ceremony. We popped on very easily onto the outside bar, after the ceremony.
Spring wedding table decorations:
The long banquet tables at The Lost Music Hall were calling out for low ceramic bowls filled with tumbling, overflowing spring blooms. One of my favourite designs to recommend for wedding tables, because you can truly appreciate and enoy the flowers whilst enjoying your dinner. You can look down on the flowers, delight in their petals, enjoy the scents wafting and crucially this size of table decoration, is practical for longer tables. Always be conscious to the food being served at weddings, potentially this could be sharing platters or plated, so this may alter the designs that you may be opting for.
Each ceramic bowl had a slightly different combination of flowers within, however by using the same tones and flowers across the whole of the tables, you bring consistency and cohesion to the room in a stylish and elegant manner.
I hope this post has provided you with all the spring wedding flower inspiration that you may need! A wonderful time of year to be married, full of vibrant, fresh green foliage, statement blossom branches and all the spring bulbs you can dream of.
