Wedding Flowers at Huntsham Court

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to provide wedding flowers at Huntsham Court, a stunning wedding venue in Devon. Helen and Alex had hired the beautiful house for the whole weekend and the plan was always to get married outside in the pergola, weather dependent. In England you can never be too sure however I was thrilled to see photos of Helen and Alex’s wedding which did take place outside!!

Helen was keen to use a variety of seasonal late spring flowers in various shades of blues with ivory, so we focused on peonies, scabiosa, hydrangea nigella, veronica, thistles with pale grey foliage to compliment. Their daughter is called Iris so of course we had to use Iris within the wedding flowers! Helen also wanted to include lavender for scent and this fitted in perfectly with the blue tones.

Helen had four bridesmaids who all carried a similar bouquet to the bride and the boys had blue thistle and lavender buttonholes. Little Iris the flower girl carried a posy of Iris with her two little cousins carrying an open white peony each with ribbon trails. I can just imagine the cuteness from here!

The outdoor pergola was decorated with tied bunches of flowers which would have worked as chair ends had the ceremony been inside due to the weather. I filled a large glass vase with hydrangeas, iris, stocks, larkspur and euclaytpus to sit on the ceremony table and also in the entrance to welcome guests into the house.

The tables were decorated with jam jars and glass bottles filled with seasonal flowers, low key simple arrangements which fitted the laid back reception that the happy couple were going for. Each place had a photo of the person sitting there rather than a name tag, which provided much interest while I was setting up, with some members of the party saying they couldn’t recognise themselves due to the photo being older! I thought this was a lovely touch and non flower related I know… but it is a lovely part of my job to see how everyone’s hard work and effort all pays off in the end to create a wonderful day for the couple and their friends and family!

I loved working with Helen on her wedding flowers and was thrilled when she sent me a lovely thank you email with a few sneaky pics! Big Congratulations! xx
