2013 at The Rose Shed – Wedding Florist in Bristol, Bath and Somerset

Here at The Rose Shed I want to wish you all a happy New Year and share with you some of my floral highlights from 2013. What a year it has been, with me being lucky enough to work with 71 couples providing them with beautiful wedding flowers to help celebrate their big day! Here are a few photos of various weddings I have worked on throughout the seasons hopefully to give you a little insight to what a fabulously colourful year I have had. Here’s to 2014 and another exciting year ahead filled with more gorgeous couples and lots more pretty wedding blooms!

Spring arrived with the first of my wedding filled with beautiful flowers such as anemones, ranunculus, viburnum, ginista. tulips and pussy willow. After the long, dull winter Spring is such a magical time when the countryside starts up again with snowdrops, narcissi and daffs all providing that much need burst of colour.

Spring moves on and leads into early summer, where we can start looking forward to beautiful peonies, stocks, larkspur and delphiniums. Softer, blousy, summer flowers perfect for weddings. Summer also provides us with cornflowers, aquilegia, blousy garden roses, sunflowers, the list is endless! And then the sweet peas came along, home grown this year and I aim to grow more this year!

Autumnal wedding flowers can be so rich, sumptuous, interesting, and exciting! All the seed heads, berries, amazing foliage and of course dahlias and hydrangeas. The changing season in nature is always reflected in the floristry aspect of my job and I love this move from summer to autumn, except the necessity of wearing extra layers!

Winter brings lots more cups of teas and thermals… but the flowers can be just as spectacular as the previous seasons. This year amaryllis, festive foliage, winter thistles and twigs were popular with winter brides. December is also filled with wreath making and Christmas decoration, no door is complete without a hand made, individually designed door wreath! (confession: this year I did not have time to make my own….. however next year this is definitely going to be a priority for me!

I hope you have enjoyed this little look back through the year via The Rose Shed flowers! Happy New Year All!

Thanks to Alex Miller Weddings, Taylor Barnes Photography, Laura Babb Photo and Neil Pollack photography for some of these beautiful images.
