On Saturday The Rose Shed had a busy day with two lots of wedding flowers to prepare for two lovely brides called Emma! Emma chose the beautiful location of The Woolacombe Bay Hotel to get married in with it’s fantastic coastal views and long sandy beach of Woolacombe. The theme for the wedding was a vintage seaside one with shells popped on the tables and various seaside touches used throughout the decor. After dodging the floods and listening to the rain all night on Friday, I was so pleased for the couple that Saturday was a beautiful, crisp Autumn day with clear blue skies!
The flowers we chose for the Autumn beach wedding were pale pinks, ivory and dark plum. Emma’s bouquet featured dark plum calla lilies ivory avalanche roses, pale pink dahlias, with pale pink astilbe, cream wax and eucalptus to fill out. A very delicate bouquet, but still rustic and natural in its form, I was really delighted that Emma was over the moon with the bouquet when I handed it over in the morning.
Emma’s bridesmaid had a similar bouquet to hers, yet slightly smaller and the two flower girls held small posies of similar coloured flowers all tied with ivory ribbon. The scent of the wax flower and eucalyptus added an extra dimension to the textural bouquets and was important to use. I used a touch of the plum coloured berried eucalyptus in the bouquets and arrangements, which is one of my favourite foliages to use in the Autumn, such a subtle colour with the added bonus of the berries.
The tables were decorated with cream enamel buckets filled with dahlias, roses, lisianthus, wax flower, astilbe and eucalyptus. The enamel buckets fitted in with the seaside theme and allowed Emma to give them away at the night to guests and family. These buckets are a great idea for wedding table centres and are the perfect height to allow guests to still speak with each other around the table, yet large enough to offer great impact on the table. A long and low, trailing arrangement was used for the ceremony table and then moved onto the top table for the reception. I loved this colour way and enjoyed the flower combinations that we decided to use, I wish Emma and Andrew lots of love and happiness for their married life together! xx
