One of my favourite places to provide wedding flowers is the Cotswolds, the stunning venues and countryside make this one of the most romantic places to get married! I created these beautiful wedding flowers at Barnsley House in the Cotswolds last summer for the Illuminated Collective workshop. I used seasonal flowers in soft peach, pink, coral with pops of brighter pink and orange throughout amongst soft green foliage and got to use some of my favourite flowers! Beautifully delicate ranunculus with layers of petals a plenty, blousy coral and pale pink peonies, scented peach stocks and David Austin Juliet roses. A combination that is quite hard to beat!
The loose, natural, hand tied bouquet is still a popular choice with brides and this style is the perfect accompaniment to any dress. Amongst the above flowers I added in snap dragons for their pointed shape, with olive and eucalyptus foliage which is a soft green colour that compliments the soft peaches and pinks perfectly. The bouquet was finished off with trailing ribbons which adds colour and interest especially against an ivory dress and allows the effect of the bride’s bouquet to be extended slightly.
Floral crowns are a lovely way to accessorise naturally, I made a very simple foliage garland of eucalyptus, olive and jasmine and wired a select few Juliet Roses and ranunculus to add some colour. This simple look is perfect if you are looking to wear flowers in your hair but without a whole, over the top floral crown.
A table was set up in the outside ceremony area where you can get married at Barnsley House, such a beautiful setting and the gardens are simply stunning… so much work must go into keeping them looking so pretty. I placed two stone urns in each corner filled with peonies, stocks, white lilac, snap dragons with lots of textured foliage.
To decorate the table, I made a long foliage garland by wiring together lots of various eucalyptus foliage and olive. This is a very effective way to decorate a long or rectangular table and the use of candlesticks on the table offers height that you may loose by having lower floral arrangements. Jessie Thomson Wedding and Events did the styling adding lots of extra special touches such as the peaches to the table.
The chairs were decorated with tiny posies of roses, peonies and stocks, trailing foliage and floaty orange and pink ribbons. A beautiful way to add detail to these white metal chairs, and a lovely way to decorate the happy couple’s chair on the wedding day! A pink and an orange ranunculus were placed on each place setting next to the name card adding yet more colour to the table.
A huge thanks to Holly, Belle and Beau Fine Art Wedding Photography for sending these photos through, its wonderful to look back to summer, a time when the sun shone and the peonies bloomed! These photos were also featured on Wedding Sparrow blog so if you would like to read more then do so here.
