Coombe Lodge Wedding Flowers – Vicky and David

I love delivering wedding flowers to Coombe Lodge, Blagdon in the gorgeous Somerset countryside as it is one of my favourite wedding venues. It is always such a treat to decorate! I was thrilled when Vicky got in touch for flowers for her January wedding, her colour theme and flower ideas were right up my street and was equally thrilled when she showed me her Pinterest board. Filled with plum, dusky mauve and ivory seasonal flowers with an emphasis on rustic foliage and elements such as twigs and pine cones I could see her wedding flowers looking lovely instantly!

Vicky’s bouquet was a hand tied bouquet compact full of flowers, but with lots of rustic texture. I used plum and white ranunculus, white hellebores and memory lane roses as the focal flowers. Supported by beautiful astrantia, wax flower, with brunia, spruce, berried eucalyptus and scabiosa seed heads for foliage. I added in some twigs and even some with tiny pine cones in which looked fab. One of my favourite bouquets of the year and we are only in January!!

Originally we wanted to use plum hellebores however these were unavailable at the market due to the new year auctions. Vicky got married on 3rd Jan, which meant fresh flowers at the market the day before. Some suppliers however shut for longer, or due to flower varieties some are just not available for auction. It is always something to check or bear in mind when planning a wedding between Christmas and New Year and in the first few days of January, and also be prepared to be slightly flexible like Vicky was.

Vicky’s bridesmaids carried smaller versions of her bouquet and the guys had white and plum ranunculus buttonholes with rustic foliage. When it came to decorating Coombe Lodge with wedding flowers Vicky wanted rustic foliage wreaths to sit underneath candelabras, which her friend had luckily loaned her! Filled with mixed foliage such as eucalyptus, myrtle, spruce, conifer, and with accents of white lisianthus, wax, pine cones and twigs they looked so seasonal and rustic fitting in with the couples theme perfectly. I always like decorating candelabra with floral wreaths as you get to enjoy the flowers whilst sitting down for your meal!

The top table had a wreath sat around a storm lantern and I added in extra scabiosa seed heads and twiggy pine cones here to make it extra special. Jam jars were dotted around the windowsill to add some extra floral touches. A lovely couple to work with I wish you lots of congratulations on your wedding day!
