Winter is such a romantic time of year to get married, and I am finding that more couples are opting for winter weddings these days. Couples often assume that there is not much flower variety about in the winter, however there is a great selection of beautiful, seasonal flowers that are perfect for adding decoration and interest to your big day!
In December I did some gorgeous wedding flowers for Debbie who was married at Hotel du Vin, Bristol. Such a warm, intimate venue when dressed with hanging foliage balls of mistletoe, ivy, holly, spruce and eucalyptus it really did look festive and ready for a Christmas wedding! Behind the registra table I hung a festive, spruce wreath filled with mistletoe, twigs, cones, apple slices and fab red gingham ribbon, a great backdrop for the couple getting wed!
Debbie opted for a hand tied bouquet filled with ivory roses, burgundy spray roses, white thistle, white ranunculus and chincherinchee. It was important to use lots of wintery foliage in the bouquet so I used spruce, berried eucalyptus, ivy, skimmia, rosehips, scabiosa seed heads to sit amongst the lovely flowers offering plenty of texture. I really did love Debbies bouquet and if I were a winter bride this would definitely be up my street! The bridesmaids carried smaller versions and the boys had white ranunculus buttonholes.
Thanks to Debbie for sending these photos through, she also was lovely in saying ‘Rachel, all the flowers were amazing! Thank you ever so much for the hard work and making me cry with something so beautiful!’ Love a happy bride!! xx
