Charlotte and Dale – Wedding on a Somerset farm

I love creating wedding flowers for venues in the Somerset countryside, this weekend was a busy one at The Rose Shed with two weddings to create lovely flowers for! Charlotte and Dale got married in Milverton Church, and then held their reception at a marquee on a farm in Oake. As the wedding was set on a farm the couple wanted a relaxed, country style theme to their wedding flowers focusing on pale pinks, pale greens and ivory tones.

Charlotte’s bridal bouquet contained sweet avalanche roses, a gorgeous pale pink blousy rose, with pale pink pom pom dahlias and green hydrangea florets. The dahlias really were amazing and as fickle as I am when it comes to flowers, at the moment I can safely say they are my favourite flower! The varieties and colours that dahlias come in is incredible and the detail that the petals have to offer adds such interest to any bride bouquet. I finished off the bouquet by tying the stems with a natural twine to keep in with the rustic, country feel of the day. The bridesmaids held a single green hydrangea head again tied with natural twine. They boys had sweet avalanche buttonholes to tie in with Charlotte’s bridal bouquet.

It was great fun to decorate the marquee on the Somerset farm, Charlotte and Dale wanted a floral arch over the entrance of the marquee. This involved wiring together lots of foliage and securing with twine to the marquee. On the morning of the wedding I tied in small bunches of gyp, green hydrangeas and white roses to the foliage, completing the look. This is such a good idea to add something extra to a marquee wedding. As the couple had such a beautiful sunny day people were outside for much of the day so archway really was enjoyed throughout the whole day. Bay trees were placed either side of the entrance too.

The wedding flowers on the tables consisted of natural arrangements of roses, dahlias, lisianthus, scented stocks and eucalyptus in cream enamel buckets.  These are perfect for weddings and can double up as thank you gifts at the end of the evening. This was a great wedding with a relaxed, country feel to it and what better place to hang out at a wedding then on a hay bale on a farm! Lots of love to Dale and Charlotte xxx
