The trend for vintage wedding flowers looks set to stay and as we move into the autumnal months it is important to tone down the traditional summer pastel vintage palette to suit the current season. By adding rich plum flowers to ivory and pale pink flowers this really does update the vintage look to suit autumn and winter weddings. One of my favourite colour schemes, I feel this is a unique and extremely classy colour way and will suit a variety of wedding themes.
This bridal hand-tied posy is a neat, tightly packed dome of gorgeousness featuring the most amazing dark plum calla lilies, a must for this autumn vintage colour palette. These calla lilies work great in larger arrangements and also as buttonholes too, so are a very versatile flower. Avalanche and Sweet Avalanche roses and pale pink pom pom dahlias are the other key flowers in this brides bouquet, whilst astrantia, scabiosa seed pods, sedum and eucalyptus foliage provide texture and interest, by separating the flowers. I adore these seed pods as they provide tiny pops of autumnal texture amongst a mass of softer flowers.
A more natural looking hand-tied, focuses on using plum dahlias, white scented stocks, pale pink astilbe, nigella, wax flower, astrantia, sedum and white larkspur. A more rustic, country style inspired bridal bouquet which would suit a more laid back, relaxed kind of wedding. I finished off this bouquet by tying the stems with natural garden twine, and overlaying a black and white checked ribbon bow completing the look perfectly. Not only does this bouquet look great it will smell great too with the stocks and wax flower providing a scent that will stay with you throughout your wedding day.
Jam Jars have been a favourite among brides for a while now, however this trend is still an ongoing one with brides still opting for various mis matched jam jars to adorn their wedding tables. These jam jars are filled with seasonal flowers including roses, stocks, astilbe, wax flower and astrantia. Various matching ribbons have been used to tie around the top of the jar, this not only hides the screw top, but also provides pretty detail and can allow you to personalise your wedding flowers even more.
