Tom and Emma – Heythrop Park

4th September 2012

Weddings do not get much better than this! Tom and Emma were married in a village church in Oxford on Saturday and held their wedding reception at Heythrop Park, a stunning 18th century country house with beautiful gardens and interior. Having grown up with Tom this was an extra special wedding for me when it came to arranging the flowers and I couldn’t wait to see the happy couple get wed!

Emma had a fabulous vision when it came to organising the wedding and chose the most gorgeous flowers to match. The wedding theme was focused around purple, ivory and lilac. Emma opted for a trailing hand-tied bouquet which featured memory lane roses, which is a gorgeous lilac, vintage rose, ivory avalanche roses, purple freesias and purple lisianthus. Emma liked the idea of using lots of greenery so eycalyptus, ruskus and trailing fern featured heavily throughout the day.

The two bridesmaids held hand-tied posy bouquets of memory lane and avalanche roses, with purple lisianthus and freesias. The boys wore avalanche rose buttonholes with purple lisianthus. Tom is a pilot in the RAF and don’t they all look handsome! Complete with a fly past from the Red Arrows as we all left the church this really couldn’t have been a more apt and amazing moment.

The church was decorated with purple and ivory pew ends containing stocks, freesias and roses, their scent filling the church. I also placed two cast iron vintage urns filled with flowers either side of the altar framing the gorgeous couple as they wed. As well as the core wedding flowers larkspur and lilies were used in the urns, liles offering scent and larkspur providing a country, natural style look that Emma was looking for.

Emma and Tom chose tall vases for the reception with large arrangements of purple and ivory flowers. Hydrangeas were one of the focal flowers and matched the purple colour scheme perfectly, you cannot beat the variation and depth of colour in hydrangeas. The tall vases looked fantastic in the grand dining room. A traditional long and low trailing arrangement was chosen for the top table.

A fabulous day from start to end with so much lovely feedback on my flowers, I find it is always more nervewracking doing wedding flowers for friends. One of the first of the lads to get married it was an emotional day and I want to wish Tom and Emma the biggest congratulations and lots of love and happiness for their future together. It was such a pleasure to be able to provide flowers for such a great couple!

A big thanks to the Debbie and Mark for sending over their photos, I would highly recommend them as weddingphotographers great pics and very lovely people too https://www.priory-photodesign.co.uk/
