Have you ever wondered what the top 10 spring wedding flowers are? Well luckily for you I have compiled this helpful list of my favourite flowers to use in spring weddings. All flowers are beautiful, but some are just a bit more special and beautiful than others, and these spring blooms are a must if you are having a January, February, March or April wedding. I’ve written the list in alphabetical order as to not provide any bias, although I may let slip which are my ultimate favourites! Shall we let the count down begin?
Anemone: This little beauty comes in a variety of shades from the purest white to the deepest plum with hot pink, blush, blue and two tone in between. They have a really dark centre, which is so striking particularly on the pale anemones. A very delicate flower, which involves a good few days to open up in the warm before they are ready to use in weddings!
Daffodils: A sure sign of spring! Is there anything better than after a long winter seeing the shoots of the daffodils spring up and their cheery faces speeding throughout the gardens? Most people would automatically think of yellow daffodils, but there are lots of other varieties too, such as these beautiful cream daffodils with a peach centre.
Frittillaries: These cute little guys add so much texture and movement to a bouquet or arrangement and I love the deep plum tone to them. People tend to think of spring weddings as being yellow and blue, but this is not the case. Spring flowers come in a range of all colour palettes so you can have a more deeper, darker, sophisticated look for your spring wedding and these are the blooms for you!
Hellebores: This stunning bloom is a favourite to use in bouquets, they come in pure white, green, deep plum and lots of dusky, pale pink tones. The depth of colour is just beautiful and they work so well with the muted tones that are so popular at the moment.
Lilac: I adore using lilac and put it in everything that I possibly can as it comes into season! It’s a beautiful filler flower, but also can be the main star of the show too with it’s beautiful scent. It works well in larger arrangements due to it’s height and offers a great coverage of flowers with it’s bountiful head.
Muscari: This sweet little flower is also known as grape hyacinth and you will see these springing up in the gardens I am sure. I love the soft pale blue colour, it is such a delicate flower and works so well in bouquets and tied spring buttonholes. Muscari also comes in white, so if you are going for an elegant, classic all white wedding then this is the perfect spring flower to use.
Narcissi: Narcissi or paper whites have the most beautiful scent and the yellow variety just scream spring! Again these come in lots of varieties and are a great joyful spring flower to use in wedding bouquets and arrangements. They also work well as a potted bulb, as do the muscari.
Ranunculus: Ok these beauties need no explanation! A smaller version of a peony, these flowers have layers upon layers of ruffled petals and again need a few days to open up to their prime. A larger variety of ranunculus called ‘Kloon’ are insanely beautiful and this pale blush has to up their as one of my all time favourite flowers! Ranunculus come in all shades so it is so versatile to use within spring weddings. They also have quite a long flowering season so we usually start to see them appear in about October through until May, which is great news if you are a ranunculus lover like me!
Tulips: Coming in all colours of the rainbow, stripy, two tone and ruffled, tulips are such a beautiful spring flower! Sometimes there is nothing prettier than a jug of tulips on the table, a simple treat that will perk anyone up! But they are great to use within wedding bouquets and arrangements, the parrot tulips are really stunning, I particularly like the dark plum and ivory variety.
Viburnum: The top 10 ends on an absolute winner for me! I would have huge vases of viburnum everywhere if I could! It particularly works well with the lilac, but it’s fresh vibrant green colour is so versatile and works across all colour palettes. A really beautiful foliage that exists in it’s own right as a beautiful flower in my mind!
