The Rose Shed in Wedding Flowers Magazine!

11th April 2015

Im doing a little shout out to The Rose Shed/patting myself on the back type post today! My flower designs have been featured in the national wedding magazine ‘Wedding Flowers & Accessories’, which is a bride’s bible, filled with inspiration on planning your wedding flowers. I have been buying this magazine for years, not only to show my brides as this mag is an excellent resource tool, but to just submerse myself in the beauty of flowers for a while! For those of you who know me, will know I love nothing more than browsing magazines, whether they are home interior ones, lifestyle mags, or even occasionally, the cheeky gossip mags ….(don’t judge!) There is something so therapeutic about sitting down with a cuppa and taking your mind off of things, flicking through the pages of a magazine.

This makes seeing my flowers in print, in one of my favourite mags even more exciting!  A very proud moment for The Rose Shed, and one I think is worthy of sharing with you on here! I delivered the designs to London back in February and they have been featured in the May/June issue out now. I had to base my designs around the colour purple, so I focused on using beautiful lilac ‘Armando’ roses, soft lilac, which is a must in spring! Dark purple clematis and these stunning dark plum scabious, which add a real dramatic tone to the otherwise lilac tones. To lighten the bouquets and arrangements up, and add more spring touches I used pale blue muscari and white parrot tulips.

Foliage wise I used a mix of eucalyptus, viburnum, which was flowering, poplas and ginista. This is the perfect combination for a bride who wants to use purple wedding flowers in spring! I tied the bouquet with some beautiful silk ribbon from Lancaster and Cornish, a company based down in Cornwall that offer the most exquisite silk ribbons.

I also flowered a table centre design, I used a pale lilac, weathered ceramic pot and created the design in here, again using the same flowers. Lovely and compact, yet filled with lots of texture, interest and spriggy bits! For the buttonhole I used a lilac rose, with muscari, rosemary and clematis foliage, finished off with dark grey ribbon. Finally, featured in the magazine, was an idea for a favor… obviously I am bias towards flowers, but how sweet would one of these glass bottles look at each place setting? You could even tie the name tag to each bottle, so people know where they are sitting!

These are the shots I took in my workshop before the flowers hot footed it off to London! Thanks to Wedding Flowers Magazine for having me!
