What flowers are in season in June? Using seasonal flowers in weddings is so important to me, so I really love June as it is a great month for flowers. They start springing up left, right and centre in the gardens and there is such an abundant choice when it comes to flower colour, texture and scent. This bridal bouquet has a variety of seasonal flowers and foliage that can be picked in June and is a perfect combination of blues, greens and mauves that work so well at this time of year.
This summer wedding bouquet consists of cornflowers, astrantia, lisianthus, alchemilla mollis, honeysuckle, cow parsley and grass foliage. The wild and flowing nature of the bouquet provides tonnes of texture and interest and movement, and I used a variety of colours to give an informal, country style look that the bride was looking for. Cornflowers are a perfect flower for June. They are easy to grow and flower right up until September. A must if you are looking for a wedding with a classic english countryside feel.
Cornflowers also make great buttonholes: by placing the cornflowers with seasonal foliage such as achemilla mollis, rosemary and honeysuckle. This bride opted for having forget-me-not and sprigs of lavender accompanying the cornflowers, to add that extra bit of lovely detail. I tied the buttonholes with green garden twine to give the optimum rustic look the bride desired.
There are too many seasonal flowers available in June to list, however some of my favourites that I couldn’t live without during the summer months are: peonies, nigella, stocks, larkspur, dephinium, foxglove, hydrangea and sweet williams.
