Popular ways to dress your Marquee with Wedding Flowers

The Rose Shed has worked on lots of beautiful marquee weddings and consider ourselves to be experts when it comes to decorating marquees with florals! Based on Bristol we are surrounded by lots of English countryside in the form of Somerset, the Cotswolds and Wiltshire.. all home to lots of gardens which house marquees for weddings perfectly! I have to admit they are one of my favourite types of wedding to work on, marquees can be so personal to the couple and the possibility for wedding flowers is endless!

I want to share with you today, some top ways of dressing your marquee with wedding flowers, from ceiling floral installations, to flower arches, to table decorations. A marquee wedding really is a blank canvas and such a brilliant opportunity for you as a couple to make your mark and create such a personal vision for your big day.

I am going to start with talking about dressing the entrance to your marquee. This is so important because this is the first opportunity your guests will get of your reception decor and overall feel to your wedding breakfast. We dressed this beautiful marquee in the grounds of a bride’s family home in Somerset this summer and created a real show stopping entrance. The style of the arch as natural, organic, unstructured and focused on seasonal foliage with placements of ivory seasonal blooms as if they were growing naturally.

Marquees can often be very neutral inside particularly in the ceiling as they are so high and there is always quite a lot of space to fill in the marquee roof. Hanging installations are always a great idea to provide a real statement piece and offer get impact to the marquee. Hanging flower balls always look great and are a fun way to add florals to the marquee ceiling.

A large foliage wreath is also a gorgeous way to add impact within the marquee ceiling, I have had this bespoke metal frame made and it works so well in a marquee. Here we filled the wreath with lots of mixed foliage including fern, ruskus, eucalyptus, beech in a natural, trailing fashion.

We also dressed this bespoke frame from the lovely guys at Abbas Marquees, who built this amazing custom made apple crate bar… see what I mean about the versatility of a marquee wedding?! Here we filled the floral wreath with mixed summer foliage and seasonal blooms in ivory, keeping the look very classy and elegant yet still natural and in keeping with the Somerset countryside. We added in two hanging flower balls, because why not? Sometimes more is more in a marquee, and we love to go all out here!

There are so many ways you can dress your wedding tables in a marquee. Some couples opt for round tables, with a round floral arrangement in the centre.

Other couples prefer longer banquet style tables with a mix of florals and plants creating that real laid-back luxe kind of look. Which table set up do you prefer? The more formal round, or the relaxed feasting tables?

I am so looking forward to my upcoming summer weddings, where I will be lucky enough to get the chance to work on some beautiful creative marquee weddings. Working closely with the couple, their marquee company (Abbas and Archers), and the wedding planner, we work on bringing the whole floral vision alive for the big day!
