Coombe Lodge Wedding Flowers – Elizabeth and Adrian

From the moment I met Elizabeth I knew her flower style would be right up my street, her and Adrian were married in October at the beautiful Coombe Lodge and choose THE most gorgeous wedding flowers for their autumn wedding! The colour scheme was pale pink, bright red and deep red an usual combination but a very stunning one, and one that fits in with autumn perfectly steering away from the more traditional reds and golds.

Elizabeth wanted to carry a trailing hand tied bouquet and was keen to use trailing foliage such as jasmine and fern offering such great movement within the bouquet. I used various dahlias, scented O Hara roses, and spray roses as the focal flowers and used soft astilbe and pale pink snowberries to add texture and interest. A beautiful combination, the bouquet was finished off with dark blue trailing ribbons, which will always look lovely against an ivory dress!

The bridesmaids carried similar versions of Elizabeth’s bouquet yet with pale pink trailing ribbons, and the boys had simple spray rose buttonholes.

When it came to decorating Coombe Lodge I hung floral wreaths above the fireplace and the mantelpiece in the main dining room. Wreaths are not just for Christmas you know! They make great impact and great decoration for the neutral wall space at Coombe Lodge and can then be hung on your door after the wedding, a lovely reminder of such a special day.

Elizabeth had collected lots of cut glass vases and bowls so I filled these with seasonal flowers including dahlias, roses, spray roses, snaps, snowberries and astilbe. I used loads of foliage and the different varieties really make the arrangements, berried eucalyptus, asparagus fern, sanguisorba to name a few. All the guests took the flowers home after the wedding so I left cut squares of brown paper for the flowers to be wrapped in, it is so important to take the flowers with you or give away for them to be enjoyed afterwards!

I absolutely loved working on this wedding and was thrilled to be asked to create such stunning flowers for the very happy couple, Congratulations from The Rose Shed!
