Alice and James – Somerset Wedding Flowers

I loved making these spring wedding flowers for this fab couple, Alice and James. After knowing them both for years I was really chuffed when they asked me to do their wedding flowers, it really is such a treat when you can create something lovely for a couple on their special day. Alice and James were married in Milverton Church and then went onto Branscombe to have their reception.

Alice’s bouquet was jam packed full of gorgeous vintage roses, ivory ranunculus, tulips, muscari, blue anemones, astrantia and wax flower. A lovely looking bouquet with lots of intricate textures and detail, it really was a beauty! Alice wanted to encorporate some lime green foliage within the designs so I added in mollis which is a striking, lime green and really lifts the flowers.

The bridesmaids wore 50’s style, navy polkadot dresses, so Alice wanted something simple and classic for the girls to carry. We went with hand-tied posy bouquets of  ivory roses, ranunculus, tulips with lime green mollis and eucalytpus. I arrived on the morning and the bridesmaids were all dressed up raring to go… they looked so lovely!

The boys buttonholes were little tied bunches of ivory ranunculus, muscari and astrantia. The ultimate spring buttonholes, and I love the fact that by using this more rustic style of buttonhole you can encorpate more of the flowers from the brides bouquet, without it looking to feminine and corsage like. Here they are having a little last minute drink before the big day! I missed James on the morning of the wedding, however was greeted at the front door by a very dapper looking Best Man!

To decorate the reception, Alice and James wanted Jam Jars filled with spring flowers. They saw them at a wedding fair I exhibited at and loved the natural, country style of the flowers. After a busy few months of encouraging family and friends to donate empty jars they had collected a sizable collection ready for me to fill with the gorgeous spring flowers they had chosen. I had tied the necks of the ribbon with various ribon to co-ordinate with the flowers. It was great to know that they were all taken home by guests after the wedding and enjoyed throughout the week after.

Here are all the jam jars, packed up and ready to be delivered to decorate the tables of the reception. A very special couple, I wish Alice and James all the happiness in the world! xxx
