Saturday was the day Annie and Ant got wed. A stunning, summer’s day, you couldn’t have asked for more from the weather. I was really excited about doing wedding flowers in Devon this past weekend: the ceremony was held in a gorgeous village church, overlooking the sea at Barnstaple, and the reception was held at Castlehill, Filleigh. Look at the gardens below, such a beautiful view, perfect to wander round with a glass of Pimms celebrating the newly wed’s big day!
Annie had always wanted their wedding to have a fun, laid back feel to the day, with the flowers to be vivid, clashing colours. The bridesmaids wore bright turquoise dresses so we went for cerise, orange and yellow roses, yellow callas and cerise germini for the bridesmaid’s hand-tied bouquets. This colourful combination was completed by the use of lime green mollis foliage.
I love alchemilla mollis as a filler flower, it is available throughout the summer and looks not only great within vibrant, colourful bouquets, but also sits happily alongside the more neutral bouquets of whites, creams and greens too. Whilst taking photos of the wedding flowers I popped them into these multi coloured garden lanterns. The lanterns could make great table centres for wedding, and filled with flowers take on a completely new meaning!
I massively enjoyed doing wedding flowers for Annie and Ant, such a great couple with the fun loving, laid back attitude to their wedding. Wishing them all the love and happiness for their married life together!!
