Cotswold outdoor wedding ceremony

As wedding florists we get to work in some beautiful locations and this cotswold outdoor wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful! Victoria’s family home was set against a gorgeous lake, rolling hills with trees and the most stunning gardens. To top it off it was a corker of a summers day so it felt like we were abroad on holiday when setting up! The dream wedding job?! I think so! I’d love to share a snippet of Victoria’s photos from David Jenkins who did a splendid job of capturing the big day.

Floral Arch:

On the morning we arrived to create a stunning, natural floral arch in the grounds. This was to mark the entrance to the area where the ceremony would be happening. It is always a great idea to lead guests through, be it through planters or candles marking the way. Or a larger, more statement installation like this arch. Floral archways have become increasingly popular and we absolutely love to make them for you here! I prefer the more natural look as if the foliage and flowers are rowing and trailing up the archway. Here we used minimal floral placements to really offer that country garden look.

Bouquets:

The bouquets were filled with seasonal summer blooms such as blowsy roses, dahlias, scabious, scented stocks, with trailing foliage such as fountain grass. I love the brighter green in this mix, rather than the softer grey foliage. I feel in summer it really fits in with what nature is doing at that time… when everything is so lush and green!

Wedding Ceremony:

The wedding ceremony took place on the decking in front of the lake…like something out of a movie! We created floral meadow runners to run either side of the decking to add some colour and interest to the base of the ceremony. I felt the view was too stunning to add something tall during the ceremony. So by adding the low runners, we still achieved a floral, luxurious look, but in keeping with the extraordinarily beautiful setting. When getting married outside it is so important to think about the backdrops, views the guests will see, logistics, where are the best places to utilise your floral budget. Your florist will be able to advise you on all of these aspects.

A huge thank you to Victoria for sending through their gorgeous photos and also for this amazing feedback. Getting described as a floral ninja is a new one on me, but I quite like it!! Its always so lovely to look back on the previous years weddings

““In the chaos of an ‘at home’ wedding, finding suppliers you can trust makes all the difference, and Rachel is most definitely one of those people. Whilst my family and I were madly rushed off our feet with last minute details, Rachel (like a silent, flower clad ninja!) created and set up the most exquisite displays, with ease and without a hitch, expertly judging the layout and set up without having to disturb the frazzled bride! Having such an important element of a wedding in such capable hands made all the difference to the day. The flowers were exactly what I’d hoped for and more. Rachel perfectly captured the look we wanted, and expertly translated my dream into a reality. The flowers worked beautifully with the setting, and added perfectly to the overall feel. Rachel is an absolute delight, I am so glad I found her, and I would recommend The Rose Shed in a heartbeat.”
