WOW! What a busy month May was for The Rose Shed. Lots of lovely wedding flowers going out of the door with such variety between weddings I thought it would be a good opportunity to demonstrate what flowers are seasonal in May and suitable for wedding flowers with a few examples. Larisa was married at Hotel du Vin in Bristol, she carried this beautiful bouquet of ‘Talea’ roses, ‘Avalanche’ roses, red parrot tulips, orange ranunculus, scabiosa seed heads and rustic foliage. I loved how this bouquet has a touch of bronze foliage in it and the various textures make it a perfect, rustic hand-tied bridal bouquet.
Sarah and Ewan were married in Nailsea church and held their reception at the magnificent Coombe Lodge in Blagdon. They opted for a sophisticated colour way of ivory, pale peach, and pale blue and I absolutely adored making their wedding flowers. Peonies, hydrangeas, ranunculus, stocks and plenty of David Austin peach roses. These flowers were right up my street!
Zoe and Lee had a vintage theme running through their wedding which was held at The Manor, Wellington. Such a great venue and a beautiful sunny day to boot. Zoe’s bouquet was filled with pink ‘O Hara’ roses, ivory roses, ranunculus, astibe and scabiosa seed pods. Her 5 bridesmaids carried a similar version of Zoe’s bouquet and the gents had tied rose buttonholes with rustic foliage including rosemary and eucalyptus.
Anne got married at The Avon Gorge in Clifton village and carried a trailing hand-tied bouquet of astrantia, pale yellow ranunculus, memory lane, daisies and white spray carnations. Anne wanted to emulate her Mum’s bridal bouquet of spray carnations and fern, but wanted to bring it up to date by using the other flowers. Emma got in touch with me two weeks before her wedding requesting natural country style, seasonal flowers so it was a joy to have such a laid back brief! Emma requested the flowers to have a touch of gyp within them so I chose peonies, nigella, delphiniums, astrantia, stocks and roses to compliment this.
It was great to have such a busy month and what with The Rose Shed being the grand old age of one on May 12th it was lovely to see all my hard work of getting the business up and running was worth it! Here’s to many more birthdays and many more lovely couples to work with on their wedding flowers!
