I have the most beautiful wedding flowers to share with you today from a recent summer wedding at Cripps Barn, in the Cotswolds! I love dressing Cripps Barn with wedding flowers, it is one of my favourite wedding venues… a beautiful stone barn with stunning gardens, it really is the most idyllic place to be married. It is also a bonus being someone that is ALWAYS cold, you get to work in comfort next to the open log fire… a florist’s dream even in September! Here’s to Tessa and Alastair, I loved working with you on your beautiful blooms and the biggest of congratulations to you both!
Tessa wanted soft ivory, dusky pink and pale pink summer, seasonal flowers to be the main focus of her flowers. She was fairly laid back giving me the colour brief, alongside a look of using lots of texture foliage, with roses and freesias. For the bouquets I used ‘mentha’ ‘sweet avalanche’ roses, with ivory freesias, lisianthus, pale pink wax, lavender and mixed foliage. By adding the scented freesias, not only did the bouquets look pretty, they smelled amazing too!
Tessa’s bridesmaids carried bouquets too, and the boys had pale pink rose buttonholes with eucalyptus foliage. Tessa and Alastair were married inside Cripps Barn, so I decorated the fireplace with natural looking arrangements, amongst the candle sticks. This is a great focal point during the ceremony and looks great dressed. Another natural, trailing arrangement was placed on the ceremony adding again, more colour and interest!
The ‘Wow’ factor of Cripps Barn is the option of having hanging flowers from the barn ceiling! These hanging flower balls look amazing and bring so much atmosphere to the barn. Here we filled them with stocks, larkspur, wax flower, lisianthus, roses, hydrangeas with lots of various foliage. It is always such a treat to do these!
Tessa and Alastair also commissioned a show stopping cake, from Jennie at Curtis and Co Cakes. A beautifully, elegant cake was dressed with blowsy roses and touches of gyp in a cascade motion. The bottom tier was also decorated with loose blooms and I am sure you will agree the overall effect is stunning!
Here’s an action shot of one of the flower balls being made! For scale, those are my legs… so a great load of flowers and foliage used to create these masterpieces!! A day in the life of a florist… it’s a glamorous look!!
